Capture 2018 revision history
The first release of Capture 2018 was version 24.0.6, the 28th of March 2018.
Version 24.1.25, released the 18th April 2019
- Console Link
- Unpatched fixtures could appear as new fixtures under certain circumstances.

Version 24.1.24, released the 26th February 2019
- Large Selections
- Selecting very large amounts of objects could cause Capture to crash.
- Filament Angle
- Filament angle adjustments did not visualize correctly.
- Material Mapping
- Manually mapped materials on imported and scaled objects rendered incorrectly.
- Scrollbars
- Horizontal scrollbars on macOS were broken.
- SketchUp Import
- When failing to import a SketchUp file, the wrong version number was indicated as being the highest supported.
Version 24.1.22, released the 28th January 2019
- Donut Apertures
- Visualizing fixtures with donut apertures would make Capture to crash.
- Selection Order
- Selected items were not correctly sorted from left to right or top down in other than front views.
- Fixture Symbols
- Fixture symbols and annotations did not render for omnidirectional fixtures.
Version 24.1.21, released the 11th January 2019
- 3D Mouse
- Touching a 3D mouse while moving objects sent them into distant positions.
- Fixture Focusing
- It was not possible to right click to focus fixtures on the latest updates of macOS 10.14 Mojave on some Intel video cards.
- Windows 7
- Multiaperture fixtures rendered incorrectly and/or did not throw light on Windows 7.
Version 24.1.19, released the 6th December 2018
- Rendering Engine.
- The version and date of the video card drivers currently in use can be seen in the About dialog on Windows.
- Universe View
- Text in the universe view was difficult to read.
- Saving Images
- Saving an image from a non-live view produced black images on Windows.
- Plot Editor
- Content of overlapping plot views could leak through to eachother on Windows.
Version 24.1.18, released the 30th November 2018
- Movie Rendering
- Aborting movie rendering on macOS could cause Capture to hang.
- Rendering Stability
- Various operations including importing models and rendering images and movies could cause crashes and/or trigger driver timeouts.
- Snapshot Thumbnails
- Snapshot thumbnails could include widgets, fixture and quality information.
- Replacing Fixtures
- The new fixtures when replacing fixtures controlled by motion controllers did not assume the correct location.
Version 24.1.16, released the 27th November 2018
- LED Panels
- Semi-transparent LED panels cast shadows.
- Fixture Replace
- Replacing scaled imported objects with fixtures resulted in scaled fixtures.
- Aspect Ratio
- The aspect ratio visualization setting had no effect.
- Luminous Materials
- Objects with luminous materials did not receive shadows correctly.
- sACN Universes
- One fewer sACN universe than the maximum number of universes configured was received.

- Design Crashes
- Switching back and forth between live mode in a view could lead to a crash.

- The new rendering engine has been made default, overriding previous choices in the configuration.

- Grouping and ungrouping objects with transparent materials could cause a crash.

- The name of the GPU used is shown in the About dialog.

- Some dialogs could open on off locations on macOS.
- macOS Mojave
- The user interface appeared broken, especially in Dark Mode.
- Focus Camera
- Focusing on an object with a plot symbol in plot mode would throw the camera to an off location.

- Edges of backlit objects appeared fuzzy at lower rendering settings.

- EntTec DMX USB Pro devices are automatically set to receive and are listed even if they are not receiving any DMX.
- NDI Sources
- Capture could crash in the event of malformed NDI source names.
- Fixture Reports
- Unpatched fixtures were not included in reports.
- Art-Net Options
- The IP-address option for Art-Net connectivity was missing its options.
- Text Editing
- Extra linebreaks were added when editing multi-line text properties (such as plot text inset contents) on macOS.
- Projector Dimming
- Video projectors with dimming capabilities were always turned on after opening a project.
- Plot Key
- Fixture counts were reset to zero in cloned plot key insets.
- Video
- Video player and capture device contents froze after rendering a movie snapshot.
- New Rendering Engine
- Aperture arrangements of multi aperture fixtures rendered upside down.
- Water Jets
- The location of water emitted from water jets was not affected by motion fixtures.

Version 24.1.1, released the 27th June 2018
- Materials
- The ability to apply materials to all surfaces of library forms as well as trusses has been added.
- New Rendering Engine
- Visualization of LED panels, materials on all object types and omnidirectional lighting fixtures has been added.
- 3DS Import
- Materials are now fully imported and objects are split by them.
- Library Tab
- Column texts overflow, improving readability of product codes among other things.
- Plot Symbols
- Power location bolt symbol is drawn for all fixture types, not just moving heads and yokes.
- Trusses
- Non-generic trusses that have been edited in previous Capture versions are no longer updated to newer library versions to avoid ruining designs.
- Connectivity
- Art-Net, CITP and sACN IP configuration settings are retained even if the IP address configured was temporarily unavailable.
- LightWright Export
- Fixture location information is now exported as LightWright position information.

- Plot views could crash if a fixture did not have a symbol.

- A new configuration property to set the maximum number of sACN universes has been added.
- Editing Crashes
- Switching Design tab categories or closing dialogs while editing numeric or text properties could cause a crash on macOS.
- New Rendering Engine
- Plot view inset content could disappear fully or partially.
- New Rendering Engine
- Saving or rendering an image or movie from a view could produce all black results.
- Fixture Replace
- Replacing fixtures with accessories with fixtures that could not hold the same accessories did not remove them.
- Filter Editor
- The editing pane of filters in the Design tab did not sort layers by colour as expected.

- Several views would not appear unless scrolled first on macOS.
- List Sorting
- Renaming an item in a sorted multi-column list would not cause it to resort on macOS.
Version 24.0.10, released the 4th May 2018
- MA-Net
- The MA-Net configuration option was incorrectly available in presentations and could cause a crash if used.
- DWG Export
- Objects imported with a scale would export in the wrong scale.
- Report Print
- Tables over a certain size could cause unnecessary page breaks when printing.
- Navigator Cube
- The navigator cube was overdrawn or appeared transparent in some view types.
Version 24.0.9, released the 23rd April 2018
- Console Patch
- Drag and dropping console patch fixtures into the design on macOS could lead to a crash.
- Plot Views
- Adding plot views in the Student Edition was not possible and could lead to a crash.
- Installation
- The license key file and library installer did not function on some earlier versions of macOS.
- DWG Export
- The orientation of blocks was incorrect for a few specific types of orientation.
- Laser Shadows
- Laser always went through all objects and never cast shadows.
- Laser Beams
- The variation setting of smoke boxes did not apply to laser beams.
- Wide Apertures
- The apertures of very wide strip lights could render black with spill lighting enabled.
- Dual Frost
- On some fixtures with a frost mechanism implemented using two wheels it was not possible to disengage frost.
Version 24.0.8, released the 5th April 2018
- Fixture Update
- Capture could crash when updating fixtures if there was any problem with the library installation.
- Mac Crashes
- Capture could crash macOS during editing of project contents.
- Cylinders
- The normals of the outer hull of the cylinder shape generated incorrectly for conical shapes.
- Annotation Connectors
- Connectors of annotations could render on top of both the symbol and annotation.
- Startup
- When started by double clicking on a project file rather than through the start menu, all translation support, generation of presentation files and Hog 3/4 connectivity would be lost.
- New Rendering Engine
- Several fixes in the new rendering engine.
Version 24.0.7, released the 30th March 2018

- Capture would crash when selecting a camera.
- Student Edition
- The built-in shape objects were missing from the Student Edition library.

- All non-generic trusses would update every time a project was opened.
