As a fair amount of our users have problems with ArtNet I would like to provide you with some advice on how to make things work!

    1. Make sure that your console is really sending ArtNet. This is usually easy to tell by the furious flashing of LEDs on your network switch.

    2. Make sure Windows is receiving ArtNet. Test this by downloading the tools (the DMX Workshop) from Artistic Licence and check if you can see the DMX values.

    3. Make sure to exit any software receiving ArtNet.

    4. Inside Capture, if you have multiple network interfaces, go to Tools / Options in the menu, switch to the Connectivity tab and inspect the contents of the Preferred network address dropdown. Choose the proper interface and restart Capture until you can see the ArtNet universes popping up on the right hand side of the Universes tab in the Project window. Note that you need to restart Capture after changing the Preferred network address.

If none of that helps - email me!

    Good luck,

Lars, One thing I've noticed in getting it to work with VenueMagic on the same computer is I have to have Capture running before I start VenueMagic, otherwise the universe(s) never show up in the external list of Capture. It could be the same with most Software Consoles running on the same computer. Ben Holmes VenueMagic Support

    Hi Ben,

It sounds to me as if the VenueMagic developers have forgotten to set the "SO_REUSEADDR" and/or "SO_REUSEPORT" socket parameters - that would cause exactly that behavior. :-)

Lars I cannot get my Martin M2GO console to work with Capture. It is actively sending artnet but nothing is being registered in Capture. Please help this is very time sensitive.

    Hi Michael,

In order to help you I would need a better description of your environment and configuration. How are they connected? Which operating system are you using? Which version of Capture are you using? What is your network configuration? Have you checked your firewalls?

using a Martin M2Go console ethernet to switch to ethernet to MACBOOK PRO ver 10.8.2 running Capture 2.8.12 none of the universes are showing up in the external universe window. The artnet monitor on my computer confirms it is receiving artnet from the desk.

    Hi,

I have recently verified this setup with Capture on a Mac and a PC running M-PC. The machines were connected through a switch only and had no other IP addresses configured than 2.0.0.x and Capture's ArtNet connectivity setting was set to Automatic.
