    Hi,

I'd like to patch the built in smoke box to a hazer fixture that has an 8bit output and a subsequent 8bit fan control channel. Is there an option to change the smoke box default 2 x 16bit profile to a 2 x 8bit?

    Hello,

It would be nice to have other Smoke Box profiles, but I don't see why would you need to patch the Smoke Box to a hazer??

If you mean controling both real world hazer, along with Capture Smoke Box, what I do is simply store a fader on my console, that include both...

    Regards,

Hi, thanks for the suggestion of a workaround. Indeed, the aim is to control the smoke box from the console.

On the other hand @Capture. Why would a smokebox in the visualizer require 16bit contols?

    best regards

16 bits gives you a lot more room for fine tuning. If you work with very powerful fixtures and only want a very subtle smoke effect, you need that. The purpose of DMX patching the smoke box in Capture is not to emulate a real-world smoke machine, it is to remote control Capture. If something prevents you from using a 16-bit channel on the console you could just patch a regular 8-bit channel to the first of the two 16-bit channels.
