    Hello,

Could you please by default change the importing scale on an object, (DWG, Skp gltf....)

Could you please keep the original drawing unit (like centimeters, milimeters, meters etc...)

Or if it's not in the imported file, keep the drawing scale in meters instead of 2.54mm, because the major part of drawiong unit in this industry is on meters.

    Thank you

Well, not really. In the Netherlands it is millimeters, it could be inches as well. Maybe you could better ask to introduce a new setting, in which you can set the default unit for imported models?

    Hello Floriann,

my little expericence talk to me and my past & actual lighting tours :

    • Germany > Meters
    • Italy > Meters
    • France > Meters
    • Spain > Meters
    • Poland > Meters
    • Czech republic > Meters
    • Switerland > Meters
    • Danemark > Meters
    • Finland > Meters
    • England > Meters (when talk to Europe technical people)
    • Canada > Feet & Inches, but Meters when they want to be more precise :-D

So, yes maybe I forgot others countries but a "default option" could be a solution, or to check the unit in file too.

    Thank you

Hi, I was not suggesting that meters are not widely used in theatre. The point I was trying to make, was that maybe the default should not be changed, because when you are using Capture in a market that is using feet and inches this might cause the same annoyance that you are experiencing. Maybe it should be a setting, in which you can indicate which system (metric or imperial) suits you best for importing models.

I am pretty sure it is hard to retrieve the dwg unit from the file itself because it seems that almost only Autodesk apps can do that to my knowledge.

We would like to believe that we do keep the original drawing unit with all supported file formats that have it clearly defined. If you have any example files that misbehave we would be interested in taking a closer look. Please mail them to support@capture.se!
