    Hello

i just started with Capture, coming from Wyg, Vwx, and Depence. I really like it and i also really love the performance of Capture on my m2 mac during drawing. For me its very intuitive and you can learn it quick and easy!

I checked a lot of videos on the Capture YT Channel but now i have some questions i couldn't find information about.

    1. Is it somehow possible to combine the different selection possibilities like "select by location" and "select by fixture type"? What i want to achieve: In a Truss with wash and spotlights i want to select all spotlights of only THIS Truss, and NOT the washlights and no Spotlights on any other Truss. I know about Fixture Groups but i have to do them manually and i thought maybe i can combine more selection tools in one step because they are there anyways.

    2. Is it possible to align Fixtures symmetrically on a truss? Lets say i want to set a start point and an endpoint on the truss and then align the fixtures symmetrically between the two points. I can not achieve any alignments i want to do on trusses, with any of the align or spread tools. For me they don't work in a way we need when we have to position many fixtures symmetrically or even in trusses. Maybe i don't understand the align and spread function but i tried them many times and checked youtube... can't get what i want.

    3. I have Problems with protecting Layers when they are part of a group. Lets say i have a group with a Truss, washes and spots. I put the truss layer to "unselectable" and "locked". But when objects of this layer are part of groups, they still get selected and i also can change them. Is this for purpose or is it a bug or is it me who messes stuff up? :)

    4. Is it possible so get a quick information about how many objects i have actually selected? Lets say i have a lot of washlights in my file. Now i want to know how many i have exactly. The only way to find this out was creating a report. That's not a quick workflow. My idea was to select all by type and then get an information in the selected objects menu or somewhere how many objects are selected. But i couldn't find this.

    Thanks in advance!

I can answer a few of your questions.
    1. You can name your trusses or bars as a location and then use select by location to select all fixtures on a certain truss or bar.
I often use the Fixtures tab (floating in a separate window) to do my selections. Here you can order by column heading which makes selecting fixtures much easier.
I agree it would be nice to be able to expand or refine your selections more easily.

    2. You can first array your fixtures so they are in a straight line. After that select them all, and grab the red corner. Hold shift while dragging it out to restrain the direction. If you know the distance between the first and the last fixture you could also use array.

    3. I think there is another post about this. Maybe this is a bug.

    4. You can see what’s in your selection by clicking on the info icon (the most left icon that is near your selection in the plot view.
