It can, but it's in the nature of sACN to require a router since it's based on multicast.

That's not a thing though, it's not technically possible. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multicast_address for a list of valid multicast group addresses.
maybe I'm wrong... but nothing prevent to use localHost card to multicast data.
madMapper is doing that, D::Light is doing that

is it something you'll consider? We are starting to work with Capture and do not want to switch on Wifi card ... Also sometimes there's no RJ 45 adaptators plugged to the computer... using localhost (not as a multicast address but as an IP to bind to) is a nice solution.
