    Hello everyone,
can I save basic looks or lighting scenes in Capture itself (without a connected lighting console) so that I can call them up again next time and don't have to set everything up again manually?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hey Benjamin,

If you patch fixture in your showfile, you can select them and set them as you like. When you're happy, head over to the snapshot tab and add a snapshot. It's super easy. Just make sure all fixtures you want to capture have a DMX address.

This seems a bit unintuitive. I've heard from multiple users that they were not aware that Snapshots do not record anything without a DMX address. I wasn't myself at first, either. I've suggested renaming the Snapshots to DMX Snapshots or something. Or maybe set a warning when there are no patched channels at all when you try to record a snapshot. Or at least show a black preview image when the snapshot is recorded with no levels.

New Capture user here. This definitely tripped me up until I discovered that patched fixtures would save but unpatched wouldn't. The issue for me is that the set I'm modeling includes a bunch non-DMX practical lights, and I either have to patch them to dummy DMX channels, or manually set their light settings every time I open the capture file.

Plese share your project with us at support@capture.se. We might be able to suggest a better workflow.

Maybe Capture could bring up a pop-up if you are trying to save a snapshot without anything patched. This would still not catch a partially patched show, but it would give users a heads-up. It is just not clear out of the box that you can 'save' a snapshot, but that nothing is actually saved—unless you patch the fixtures, that is.
