Hey all. I'm using the smartsoft version of Polar and I'm wondering if it's possible to "store" e.g. dimmer or pan/tilt values into scenes the same way objects can change positions? Have I missed something or do I need to upgrade to Basic version in order to hook up the Capture with lighting console. (Compulite Vector in my case...) So I could store the values in the cue list on the console. Thanks.

    Hi Mikko,

You cannot store DMX levels in Capture (yet, it's in the plan..), but you can record values on the console. If you own the SmartSoft Edition, you do need to upgrade to the Basic Edition in order to connect with a Vector though.

Thank you for a faster-than-light reply...

So I guess I'll have to go to talk to my boss about the upgrade to the basic edition then.
In that case, I obviously need some hardware aswell to connect the DMX to my laptop, or is it possible to use it via ethernet?

But I think it would be a great feature in future versions of Capture to be able to store cues right in the Capture. (Without saving a new file for every scene)... Then you could work away from work with the Capture and use it as a powerful pre-design tool and share your visions with the director, set designer, etc, etc... without the need of being linked to the lighting console all the time. And afterwards you could just export your show/patch/cues into your lighting console.

But anyway you guys have made a great software...
    Thank You.

    Dear Mikko,

Wherever you have artnet you don't need specific hardware to input dmx, you can do it via ethernet. Storing cues in Capture is on our to do list however I am looking forward for Lars reply on your last comment "And afterwards you could just export your show/patch/cues into your lighting console."

    Interesting!!:)

    Regards to both!

Hi, Well, if you're hooked up to a console while recalling snapshots (that's what it will be called) and you're hooked up with a protocol that supports talkback (such as CITP), then this means the values will be transferred to the console so you can record them there. If you're on ArtNet, that won't be possible of course.

Hi, I dont know how long ago this was added but when is it likely that you will be able to record scenes in the software as I'm waiting for this before i move from the overpriced WYSIWIG

    Hi,

Frankly I cannot give you a proper answer to that. It is clear from the feedback from our users that this is much less prioritized than improving our CAD and paperwork abilities so it would be wrong of us to give it top priority at the moment.
