    Hi,

I know this has been covered a couple of times with the answer "get the best graphics card you can" but as I'm going to be purchasing a new laptop mainly for using capture I'd like as much info as possible, mainly are there any advantages/disadvantages between AMD cards and nvidia cards for use with capture.

Apologies for going over old ground but I don't want to end up buying a lemon.

    Regards,

    Andy

    Hi andygasoline,

As you say this is difficult to answer. No, there is no general advantage / disadvantage between AMD and NVidia. We tend to recommend NVidia as we have seen more bugs / problems with AMD. Performancewise, here's a good site to help you decide: http://www.videocardbenchmark.net

Are their minimum requirements ? i'm currently using an iMac (late 2009) 3,06 intel core 2 duo 16 GB 1067Mhz ram ATI HD4670 256 mb And when I plot more then 20 fixture, the iMac slows down, in 3D the 'sharpness' goes away

No, there is no mimimum requirement. Capture automatically adjusts the quality in the visualization in an attempt to keep up with the "minimum frame rate" setting in the options. If you have more horsepowers than your project demands, quality will be at a maximum - if not, Capture will simply do it's best.
