i was wondering what peoples opinions were about working with dwg files that have been made externally of capture. for example - if im sent a festival dwg to program with - is there a way of taking the festival light fixtures ( that i understand become objects when imported into capture? ) and creating them fixtures? other than replacing all the fixtures manually?

As long as the fixtures are present as 'blocks' in the drawing, all you need to do is select the ones to replace and then take the correct fixture from Capture's library and drag and drop it on one of the selected fixtures in order to replace them.

thanks Lars, your advice has lead to me buying a full license, but i need to hit you up for further wisdom!!! ive got my DWG loaded into capture, interestingly i can fixture exchange the wash lights in my plot, but not the spots.... i cant find out why - ive assumed its something to do with the origional DWG file, which was composed using wysiwyg - can i send you the dwg file for you to have a look at?

one thing i did notice was that once the dwg has been imported, the wash lights have more properties and options that arent greyed out, and for example have position vector info in the properties window. where was the other fixtures, that i cant seem to swap out do not? relevant? helpful?
