Is there a good way to simulate a rear projection? I want to have an Opera screen as background. Alternately it will be used for (rear-)projection and as horizon lighted with RGB floodlights. At the moment I use a plain white "box" object with transparency set to 10% to simulate this. But so the projection is quite dark. When I set transparency to a higher level (e.g. 50%) you can see what's behind the screen.

Is there a rear projection screen in the library? Or does anyone know a trick to simulate one?

Hi Arnold, This is a good point - I have taken a note of this and we will try to find a good solution! There is one thing you could try - place two surfaces of equal size with a cm or so between them, make the one closer to the viewer quite transparent and white and the one behind it solid white. Also set the one in the back to not affect light. This will allow light to pass through it on the transparent surface, but while looking through the transparent surface you will see only the white surface!

Hi Lars, what a awesome trick?! ;) In general this works fine. Projection just is a little dark... Even when I choose a Barco XLM HD30 which has approx. 30.000 ANSI lumens of output. I toyed with different colours for both screens. In my opinion it's looking more realistic when the rear screen (the solid one) is black while the front one is white. But this seems not to affect brightness.

That's what I love about Capture! - You guys care very well of your user's needs... Thank you!!!

The tricks kind of does it. But it would be great to have a finished back projection screen/surface in the library.

    Hello...
I am new to Capture... I am just starting to learn it... and the first project I am trying to design requires a rear projection screen too... it would be great if there was one in the library.
    Thanks :-)

Hi I was looking for that to.. I found that is you make a boc the size of your screen and put a light grey or white material on that you can get the effect by adjuting the Backprojection of the material. That can be found under Tranparency. Hope this helps.

    Cheers
