    Hi guys,

I have a show I am programing where we are using Resolume Arena as the media server. How would I go about connecting it to Capture. Right now I am running Resolume and capture polar on the same mac and fiqured there should be some way to connect via artnet. Please give me some advice on the best way to do this. Also is there a test program from checking artnet on the mac. I know there is one for PC.

    Hi,

I don't think there is a point in connecting them using Art-Net. If you intention is to get video from Resolume into Capture, you're better off looking at PixelBeetle (www.lewlight.com) or wait for Syphon support in Capture!

Yes, Syphon would be awesome heh heh, cause I think that means you can also patch Quartz Composer

    Hi,

Capture Argo will not have Syphon support. It was left out in favour of other features - we looked into Syphon for two reasons: bringing video out of Capture for better screen recording and bringing video into Capture for design video content. As we eliminated the need for the first by means of adding movie snapshots and video rendering, the priority of Syphon was reduced a bit and left for the future.

    Dear Lars,

Syphon support is a must and looks like an easy implementation (even through Quicktime qtz support and enable Kineme's safe patch).

I updated to Argo as I really liked that you enabled Video support in the solo edition but even tho I am willing to buy the extended version (as to have CITP support) I use Syphon enabled applications for all my projection mapping needs (Arkaos or Hippo Servers are not an option and personally hate their workflow).

I have red the CITP protocol and tried to implement it through MAX/MSP and quartz composer but still with no luck. Also seen how it works through pixel beetle app you wrote and looks brilliant.

Can you please, at least for now till you enable native syphon support, publish a Quartz/Max example of communicating with CITP or write an application that converts syphon to CITP?

    Thank you

    Hi,

Syphon support is still relatively high on the wish-list. However, although the Syphon API as such is straight-forward and easy to implement, the challenege in Capture lies in making use of high resolution video provided through video RAM rather than regular RAM, not only while streaming but also while recording snapshots. So it's not exactly an 8 hours fix. :-)

    Hi Lars,

Can you verify pixelbeetle link at www.lewlight.com. Link is broken, it opens a clothes page instead.

    Thx

    Hi Lars,

Thank you. The site is now restored but the links to download pixelbeetle 1.1 or pixelbeetle 1.0 are broken.

    All the best,

    Philippe
