Just been having my first play around with Argo, it's looking very good. I hope you don't mind me pointing out a few things as I notice them...

When importing things from other project files it is great that layer information is now also imported. However, I did notice that this will always create new layers, even if there are existing layers in the project with the same name, so you end up with duplicate layers named the same which is confusing. Would it be possible for the software to look for identically named layers and simply place the imported objects onto those where present? I guess there might be situations that you don't want this to happen so maybe there could be an option to merge layers or create new layers with slightly different name, like 'Name (imported)'.

Also, a more minor point, in Polar when I right clicked to create a new layer, layer set, plot etc. the new item was immediately selected and ready for me to type in a name, whereas in Argo the Layer/Layer Set folder remains as the selected line so it's a couple of extra clicks before I can name the new item. Strangely, for new plots the new item is highlighted but not ready for typing. I think the Polar behaviour is preferable.

Also noticed with a layer locked, items get selected, but cant' be moved. I preferred the Polar mode of no selection could be made, (so I could build the set and lock it so I wouldn't keep selecting it). Is there an option for this to be disabled?

    Thumbs up overall..

    Hi,

If you import from another Capture project file layers will not be duplicated. They should also not be duplicated if you're importing from any other file, as long as it's done in "a go", that is without starting the importing process over again. If you do that though, layers are duplicated. We'll see what we can do about that!

Regarding the immediate typing of a new name, we'll take a look at that too!

    Hi,

The option to have locked layers prevent from being select is still available, in the settings of Capture Argo!

    Hi Lars

I've tried it a few times and for me I always get duplicated layers. I thought it might have been because I was importing from an old Polar file but I just saved a simple project in Argo with two layers then created a new project, created two layers with the same names as before then imported all of the saved file in one go into a new project and I end up with four layers (2 of each name) plus the default layer.

    Hi,

I'm afraid Capture doesn't rely on the names of the layers, but rather internal ID's of them. For a future version we hope to use the layer's name + all its colours as identification instead.
