    Hi!

Capture Polar is using graphics at a high level and your computer needs to be in good shape! Here is some useful information:

    • Do not install Capture from a network drive or stand alone drive.
    • Be sure to have administration rights when installing.
    • When you start Capture Polar for the first time a message will tell if Capture is running in 2005 mode. You can change this setting in the Tools menu, Options / Visualization.

Recommended hardware for PC´s with Windows when using Capture Polar:

    • Minimum 1 GB RAM (the more, the better)
    • An NVidia graphics cards (ATI does not support this kind of graphics so far) with a minimum of 512 MB VRAM (note, it's not the same as the computer's RAM)
    • Windows XP or Vista

For optimal performance of Capture (in this order)

    1. Run Disc Cleanup, Ccleaner is a useful free alternative:
      http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner select "Download Latest Version"
    2. Get the latest drivers to your graphic card. Use both Windows Update AND the manufacturer's download site.
    3. Defragment your harddrives, right-click on your HD (typically C:) select Properties / Tools / Defragmentation and run it even if you get the message that you don´t need to.

I continue to have problems with polar.
Windows XP pro PC with 3 gb memory
Nvidia video card with 512 mb ram
    Cleaned up and defraged.
Same errors as in a previous post.
I understand a possible bug and you will eventually find and fix.

I get the error at start up that my system isnt polar graphics capable.

When I purchased the software I was told that i just needed a grapchics card that supports open gl 2.0 and didnt mentina that it had to be an nvidia chipset as you have mentioned above.

So I went out and bought an expensive and very powerfull ati quad head card.

This does support opengl 2.0 and all the grapchics that are detailed in the report. I really need to get this going asap. Please help.

Not to worry now guys I have sorted it.

While running under XP it failed but when I installed Windows Vista it worked fine, I guess the Vista drivers are much more up to date than the latest XP.

    Hi Lasse,

As an update to your requirements, I'm very pleased (relieved!) to report that Capture Polar (with the Polar Graphics) appears to work extremely well on an ATI graphics card.

I have upgraded a lab full of iMacs dual-booting MacOS and Windows and after a certain amount of ATI Driver hackery have a very functional result.

If anyone has an iMac and is having problems with getting the graphics to function, the reason is that Apple's own, supplied drivers are actually incorrect! If you'd like to know how I went about correcting them, let me know and I'll happily share the info.

However, short of fullscreen vsualisation being a bit slow, I'm pleased to say that an iMac with 256MB ATI Graphics (Core2 Duo 2.4GHz, 2GB RAM) is perfectly capable of running Polar Graphics when appropriately 'persuaded'.

Oh yes, and XP, not Vista.

    Hope this helps,

By the way, the sooner I can get my hands on Polar for OSX, the better; the less Windoze in my life the better!

    Hi!

I my self use Capture with 64-bit Windows Vista and it works fine! Then I also can use much more memory (16 GB).
