Hi,

Yes, as Lasse says, it works fine. However, there are no benefits with it. Yet. ;-)

Hello Capture-Team,

In order not to open a new thread, I take this one to ask some quesions about the hardware requirements of capture polar.
I'planning to get a Polar Basic the next weeks. But I still need some hardware for the software.
As lighting-design is not my main job and I still have to get a magicQ pc wing, the costs for the hardware should be not too high.
I could get a Mobile Workstation Dell Precison M90 for an affordable price.
So I could use it not only in my working room with the TFTs but also in my living room with the beamer, in order to have it comfortable while creating designs.
It has a 2.3 GHz Core2Duo with 2GB Ram and a Nvidia Quadro FX2500M with 512MB of RAM and Win XP
So my question is: Is this Workstation good enough to run the software properly?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Best regards,
lighting

The registry update in the first post of the thread did not work. Now not only does Capture Polar not start up after the splash screen, I also get a critical stop sound in the process.

I just bought a brand new laptop to run this application- it has a 256MB on board Intel card in it. The vendor will not take the machine back because it arrived as we ordered it and I cannot get capture polar to run on it. So what am I to do?

Hi lighting,

The Dell Precision M90 system that you describe sounds as if it would be capable of running Capture Polar well! Unfortunately we cannot leave a guarantee - the best thing would be if you could get a chance to try it before you buy it. I would say it's an 85% chance it will work.

Hi roskopfj,

I'm sorry to hear that it didn't help. We have just managed to get hold of an Intel machine that is not able to start Capture, so now we have a fair chance of researching the issue! That should give us some kind of answer within the next two days. In the meanwhile we apologize for the inconvenieces caused by these issues!

Hi Lars,

thank you for your answer.
Unfortunately I can not try the software before on this Notebook. But it sounds good, what you told me, so I will try to get the workstation and try the demo.
If it works, I will tell you.

How can I see if the software runs really good? Can I see that in the smooth movements of the beams? Or are there other points to see?

Best regards,

Hi lighting,

I believe the most important thing is to see that Capture starts and opens the demo projects without problems. Performance testing as such is can get quite complicated, so your best bet is simply to see if it behaves 'nicely'..
