    Hi,

The interest in our upcoming Mac OS X version of Capture Polar is truly exceeding our expectations and as a result of that, our mailboxes are virtually on fire. We have received a lots of varying questions and want to provide you with the answers of the most common ones.

So what's the Mac version going to be like?

Just like the Windows version. Exactly like it! Under the hood, Capture consists of two parts - one Capture specific and one platform specific. We are simply porting the platform specific part for the Mac, leaving all the user interface and software concepts as-is.

The only exception of course being limitations of the Mac platform such as lack of IPX support or native interfaces with some Windows-based software controllers that don't run on a Mac. More common protocols such as ArtNet, ETCNet or CITP will continue to work.

Will I be able to run it on all Macs?

Capture Polar will require an Intel-based Mac. In order to run with our new "Polar" graphics, additinal requirements will apply, but not demand an NVidia card as indicated earlier!

So when can I try it?

    Very very ysoon.

Can I try it sooner if I become a beta tester?

Yes, if you could become one. As interest was overwhelming we already have a handful of betatesters and are not looking for more at this point. We will inform you if this should change.

    So how much is it?

As much as it already is - a Capture license is personal and valid for any platform and we are not planning any price increases.

But I want to be more active than this!

Capture has always been developed in tight connection with the feedback from our users. All suggestions and feedback is taken into consideration and in a majority of all cases it makes it to our todo-list. If we haven't added something yet that has been suggested, it's probably not because we didn't like but simply because we thought something else was more important for the moment - we believe in the importance of a slow but qualitative improvement process.

With that said, we are not looking for additional product designers (especially since the Mac version will be the same as the PC version), but any and all feedback is always welcome! It's what has made Capture such a popular product over the years.

    Hi Hika,

As we've written, Polar graphics will not run on GMA 950. 2005 graphics will probably work fine though.

    Hi Kristofb,

We do not know for certain yet, but so far it's not looking good. We've still got a bit to go with the Mac version before we will be able know for sure. As soon as we know, we will post an update.

Kristofb, I know it isn't quite the same but I've been able to get the ATI-based graphics in an iMac to function perfectly with Polar on Windows, admittedly with some driver hacking. I put a post about that in the Polar thread if it's of interest.

Obviously, not having to run Windows would be a great relief to me so I'm looking forward to it with great interest...

    Hi,

    I´m new in the forum.

I´m not very happy with windows. Actually i´ve a mac book pro with boot camp, and i´d like to work in MAC OSX, it seems to be a great idea that we can work in mac with this software and not in WINDOWS, is more stable.

Actually i work with compulite vector and capture seems to be a grat software for pre-produccion. If you want i can be one beta tester,

    Thanks

I am using the DEMO, what I downloaded for MAC. The Software is GREAT, works PERFECTLY. I am currently a Wysiwyg user, thru BootCamp and Parallels. I Loved Capture for MAC so far, and the RENDER looks beautifful. The only missing thing is the DWG import or so. And manage printing scales. Regarding DWG, if you guys can keep me up to date soon as gets out, I apprecciate. Regards Gian Bortolotti

I have been playing around with Capture on Mac for a while now, but I can't find a way to get any of the four windows to full screen for visualization.
Could somebody point me in the right direction?

    Kind regards
