I'm having a problem with Argo continuously freezing after having the program open for about 20 minutes.
    System Specs:
    Alienware M17xR3
    Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2630QM CPU @ 2.00GHz 2.00GHz
    GeForce GTX 580M
    32GB RAM 1600
    Win 7 Pro
(All my software or hardware driver updates are automatic. My computer was a top of the line video game beast back in 2011, but it's specs are getting towards pretty standard these days.)

I had a similar issue with Polar freezing/crashing until a year or two ago when the kinesys version of polar was released (2.8), but now with Argo I have the same problem all over again.

I was wondering if anyone had any hints as to what may causing the program to freeze and any recommended solutions?

    This kind of problem is very difficult to sort out. I could offer two theories;

    a) Something you do causes it to freeze due to a bug - probably a particular edit. Try to think back - are you doing something in particular when it freezes?
    b) A hardware overheat or power issue. If the problem always happens after say 20 minutes of visualization, then that might be what it takes to build up to a certain temperature. You could install GPU-Z and monitor your hardware: http://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/

Not sure what happened, but for a short time a few weeks ago Argo for me was crashing a lot. Seemed to be somewhere between viewing full screen and moving objects when in live view. After an OS X update I noticed it kicked out the Nvidia Web Driver and was running on the OS X default driver and said the Nvidia driver was not compatible. Shortly after that Nvidia released an updated web driver that for me is showing up as 343.02.02f04. Since then everything seems to be much more stable and full screen viewing is working okay.

I already use GPU-Z and a cooling pad.

Is there any way to switch off the Alpha, Beta, or Gamma views and only have one or two views so I use less processing (cpu) power?

At the moment I am building and patching a new system using LSC Clarity. I don't open any other programs except for the Windows Task Manager for when Argo freezes. I've done my best to set all the extra Argo fx as low as possible.
There's doesn't seem any particular thing that sets off the freeze or crash, I can go for a short break and when I get back the program has stopped.
It doesn't seem to happen in polar so it's very strange. I will keep sending crash reports.
    can you close the views?
can you set the autosave manually?

I sent in crash reports and updated the video driver via windows update in case it was corrupted.
The next day I then threw everything I could to get the program to stop, reasonably large project at full screen with full setting, using all the lights doing intensity, movement, colour and gobo patterns, and then I just left it for a while to run.
I not sure how but the problem seems to of fixed itself.

    Problem solved. (I think!)

It does sound like it might have been driver related then.
