Hi, I've downloaded the demo version of capture after using it during some training on the Chamsys MagicQ desk. I have MagicQ PC talking to capture and when i run an FX on MagicQ, i can see heads move and on the front of fixtures and generics, i can see a number indicating the dimmer level but i get no beam out of the lantern. Is this a limitation of the demo or am I missing something very simple?

No, this is not a limitation of the demo version. Are you sure tha the shutter of the spots is open ?

I'm pretty sure the shutters are open and as I say, when I place generics like profiles or bars of six in the model, i don't get any light from them. I'm sure theres something really simple i'm missing.

    Hi monkeypuzzle,

There might be some issue with Capture on your computer, but I'm not sure. You wrote that you could see a number indicating the dimmer levels in the live view - that is good, but what color is it? If it's red it means something else is blocking light output (iris, cmy mix, shutters..), but if it is white, you should really see some light.

Have you managed to see light in any of the provided demo projects? (Disconnect the MagicQ so that it doesn't clear all DMX when you open the files).

    Cheers Lars,

The numbers are in white and i did manage to get a beam at one point yesterday but haven't been able to repeat it. The software was otherwise stable until this point but now crashes or at least runs very slow as soon as i put a window into live mode. This is with now other programs running. I have removed and reloaded the software to no change. The system i'm running on is a HP pavillion dv9000 laptop running Vista with a T5600 clocking at 1.83 ghz with 2mb of ram with an NVIDIA Geforce 7600 doing the graphics. Surely this should be enough. I've searched for demo projects but can't find them. Where are they located?

    Thanks, matt

I think that he meant these:
www.chamsys.co.uk -> Download -> in the bottom of that page : MagicQ Visualisation

    There is seven demo projects.

The demo projects there are for playing with the demo that comes with the full version of capture i think. I have however loaded the projects into MagicQ and put a generic lamp into a window and with live information on, I get control over the number representing the dimmer level (0-F) but with no beam, I have installed the latest driver for the graphics card but as soon as i put the window into live mode the program seems to stop responding. It didn't do this when first loaded but then it also didn't show the beam. Is my system to slow to run capture (If I were to purchase the full version would i also need to budget for a new computer?)

I have just run capure with the performace monitor running on vista and with one generic in a window with live informtion on, the simple act of turning up the control uses up to 70% of my processor power, switching to live mode and the processor flatlines at 100%.... I get the impression my computer isn't up to it but for the first few days it didn't do this.....

    Hi monkeypuzzle,

I have a feeling your computer is software emulating some OpenGL features and that that's the reason for your problems. You probably need to go into the options and force Capture to not use the "Polar" graphics!
