I have found several mentions of 128 by 128 pixel images for Custom Gobos in the Forum and the Polar manual but no info re what image format (jpg, wmv, gif ????) and obviously they go in the gobo directory in the appropriate location but that is filled with a custom file type so how do we do it please I make custom gobos and would like to show them in my visualisations.

    Hi Stephen,

As described in the manual (section 4.6) this is be done in the Gobos branch of the Design tab (and not by placing files in the library). When you double click on the Image property of the gobo, you are asked for an image, and the image format currently supported is PNG (as indicated by the Open File dialog). (If you need to convert to PNG, you can use Paint which comes with Windows).

So for anyone like me who had trouble with this before the hints you gave me
    1 Pick the design Tab
2 Select the Gobo Folder and then right click the Gobo Folder, you get a "Add New Gobo" popup and select this
3 A new Gobo will appear in the RHS pane clicking in here allows editing the name and clicking the "image" title opens a load image dialog (2005 & polar appear to currently support jpg) search for your image (which is supposed to be a 128 by 128 pixel image)
4 To use this custom Gobo select the Fixture/Fixtures to be updated, go to the "selected items" & select the Gobo wheel to be updated it will offer the option of copying the wheel contents answer yes this will allow you to drag the new gobo into the desired position in the new wheel
5 Don't forget to save your project

    I hope this helps
