Has anyone got any examples of how importing .dwg files looks, how well does an import from wyswyg / vectorworks etc work?

A youtube of this would be great, but others experiences helps too.

Why don't you try it yourself by importing a dwg file in our demo?

Am I missing something? There´s no other demo than the student version, is it? Tried with that, and that didn´t work at all. Also, the version comparison sheet says the student version can´t import dwg. Soo.. where to try? Im normally using Argo basic, and would very much like to try this out before considering upgrading to Symphony!

    Hi,

If you are already a Capture user, then there's isn't a separate demo - but that doesn't prevent you from importing DWG in your Basic Edition. What happens is that when you save the showfile, unlicensed elements of your design are excluded when saving, such as imported DWG objects.

So in short, you should be able to try importing DWG in your Basic Edition. When you say it didn't work at all, what happened?

A followup question in this thread:

Owning Capture Argo Basic now and can`t save files when adding dwg files, just saves the the stuff you added.
So in new Atlas edition you can save from dwg and other files, no matter what version you buy?
    Am i right about this?
    Cheers!

Yes you are right, DWG support is in all editions of Capture Atlas.

And a follow up from me too..

Importing works fine, however.. with several files the scaling is waaaaay off. When I zoom out as far as Capture can go, I still can´t see more than a few meters of the original dwg plot. Can scaling be adjusted somewhere? Im pretty sure the scale is correct in the architectural dwg.

You have to set the drawing unit upon importing of the object in Capture Atlas. In Capture Argo you had to do it afterwards by selecting the imported object, going to the selected item, and setting the drawing unit in the properties of the object.
