Hi,
I'm having troubles connecting the magic q desktop mac to the capture polar.
I have set up the loop up on the magic q but can't work out where to alter the settings to allow the loop up in capture. I have tried Tools, Options but it has made no difference.
Any help would be great,
Thanks,

Hi mn22,
For some reason, ArtNet is problematic on the same machine with Mac OS X. Our theory is that it's routing related, but there is not enough litterature / documentation available to figure out a workaround for that.
It should connect using CITP though, but it doesn't, due to what appears to be an issue with MagicQ. It's being looked into!

Do you know if there is a solution to this problem already? Couldn't make it work today..

Hi,
I just tried this again with the latest version of the MagicQ (1.4.3.0) and I was not able to get ArtNet nor CITP to work on the same Mac. The only thing I managed to get working was ArtNet from the Mac to another computer.
My suggestion is that you contact ChamSys regarding this matter!

hi guys sorry, saw this post bit late lets hope this help i got it working on the mac mq version on the same machine and it has been working fine all long. lets see what I've set here that you might miss out. 1, a working network of course 2, set the same ip for mq mac(get the ip from the network side under system preference) 3, polar pretty much everything is default and auto 4, the mq I/O view set to remote capture for the visualizer section. 5, take note : start mq before polar(not sure any difference) once you setup everything in MQ ip, i/o setting, save show once done then restart it. after that you can turn on your polar. if you set the output of mq to artnet it will show under the universe list of polar as artnet output. if you got the visualizer set to capture it will show the Chamsys universe under the list as well. using latest available version for both software.

I got it to work also with the latest versions (MQ 1.4.6.0/Capture 2.3.7). I noticed that you need to have your wired network card connected to a router in order to get it working. Apparently OS X turns off the network card completely when there is no network present on the connector.
So:
1. connect your wired network card to a router (any other network device should do as well. Another computer etc...)
2. turn off your AirPort card
3. start MacigQ
4. check that the MQ ip mathes your LAN card's ip, and enable capture visualization in MQ
5. start Capture, and the MQ universes should pop up
you can turn on the AirPort again after the universes show on Capture
Hope this helps.

strange, It got it all working wireless instead of wired/cable network. as long as I get the ip correct in mq and all in the same network.

Hi,
We have found an interesting quirk on OS X - if you have multiple IP addresses present, it would seem better to leave the setting in Capture on "automatic", even though it tells you to pick one. (!) We're changing this for 2.4.
