Hi,

The type of iterative work you describe is not easy to accomplish, specifically:

- Importing items from another software
- Making changes to these items in Capture
- Reimporting the items from another software while keeping the changes made in Capture

The best solution is to take an approach where you don't think of it as importing the entire stage and scenery set from SketchUp, but rather bits and piece. If your client needs to move them around, you can do this in Capture. If a single piece needs updating, reimport only that piece and reapply any specific changes made in Capture to that piece.

As for achieve better results with 3DS I find that quite surprising to be honest - what are the things that don't come through .SKP ?

Just thought I'd share that I've finally made time to transfer one of my projects from Wyg to Capture (Nexum) and it has gone pretty well considering I'm still very green in terms of understanding Captures tools and methods.

I exported my Wyg model as a dwg and imported it directly into Capture which mostly worked apart from several items which were open ended lines in Wyg which had their ends joined during the import process.

Next I tried importing the dwg into sketchup pro first and then imported that version into Capture, which was pretty close to perfect. (Apart from no textures or colours surviving the dwg export)

I'm also a novice with Sketchup yet it was fairly easy to re-texture items with it and from there all textures and colours import just fine into Capture. Once all that was done, the model in Capture looked pretty similar to the Wyg version.

I'm pleased to report that I'm extremely impressed with the image quality of the visualiser, it is certainly better than my (now quite old) copy of Wyg.

Now I just need to learn how to use everything properly...
