My config: Intel Q6600, clocked at 3Ghz Nvidia 260GTX as main vidcard Nvidia 8800GT for third display 4GB rap Capture installed on Raptor Harddisk Win Vista 64bit 1600x1200 Main display 1920x1080 second display where visualisation is displayed Both displays connected to 260GTX I have a not too complicated scene 3 sixbars as front, 3 sixbars back, 4 250 wash, 2 250 spot, 2 sixbars ACL and 4 Showtek sunstrip arrays Everything works smoothly ... until i use the sunstrip arrays Even if i just open the lamps on one of them, everything becomes very laggy. Switching to 32bit Floating Point visualisation did not help Do you have any suggestions to how i could improve the performance of my live rendering ?

Removing the 8800GT makes no difference, so Capture clearly runs on the 260GTX
Is it possible the sunstrip arrays are simply programmed in a very complex way ?

    Hi desolation,

Could you post a screenshot of your setup?

I contacted Luc from AVL and he as well experiences performance hits when using the sunstrip blinders.

    Hi,

What causes the significant degradation of performance in this case will be that the fixtures appear to be focused out in the audience (or actually towards the camera), which uses a lot more GPU power at the moment. We are hoping to be able to fix this, but cannot quite promise anything at this point.

I find it quite strange that using the ACL pars in this manner does not have the same effect.

Since this kind of is the way you use a stage blinder it would be very appreciated if you can solve this issue, otherwise the fixture is quite unusable.

    Hi desolation,

It does have the same effect actually. The notable performance degradation occurs when you stand inside the beam of a fixture and striplights like the stage blinder have multiple beams (with wider angle than an ACL as well, so when you stand inside its beams, it will affect a larger portion of the screen).

We are experimenting both with perfomance improvements as well as dynamic quality self-adjustment.

I have the eact same problem. I've bought a top end HP laptop with 6 GB ram, 2 G GC NVIDIA Gforce. And intel I7 cpu. It does run capture polar beautiful but when I tried to patch in 18 8 lites it would almost crash completely. I even tried to move the camera to the side so I didnt look directly into the beams, and still capture would freeze for 5-10 seconds. Also, I have no problems when any other lights...movers ACLS etc point into the lens. I agree this is a bug that would be nice to get fixed as it does take away from any presentation you make Thanks Yenz N

    Hi,

You will be happy to hear that our upcoming release, which is less than a month away now, has dramatically improved beam performance!

Hi i have the same issue... 16 sunstrips towards the audience. Is there any way of minimizing the performance drop off?? Nick
