    Hi

I am working in both 2018 Symphony and Student edition. I have created Filters to hide layers, but even when layers are hidden the invisible object is blocking light and casting shadows.

I imported my model and objects from SketchUp 2018.

    Any way to fix this?

    THANKS!

thats working as expected. to get a hidden object to be transparent to light you need to use scenes not layers.

    Thank you.

I see how to have an object - for example - a set piece be hidden and not cast shadows I need to create a new scene and then activate that scene, then I need to go to layers and select all the set objects in that layer (because I carefully organized my layers before importing my model) and then I go to Selected items and make them hidden. These steps work. Once done I then can flip between different scenes to display the correct scenery. It is just way easier in 2018 to create a new filter and uncheck a layer to have it not be included - it is less steps. Also I am not sure why I want an object that I do not included or want to see to still cast shadows.

Thank you for answering my question. I appreciate your time.
