Hi Lars, I have designed a lighting show that contains 400 fixtures - I'm currently using Derksen fluorescents while I wait for some custom fixtures from Vangelis. (1 dimming channel, white neons in 3 different lengths - 1m, 1.5m & 2m). I've patched the 400 fixtures to 200 channels. The problem I'm having is just slow performance in live view... the system I'm using is an i7 860 with a GT220, although I have tried on a different system which is an Phenom II 965 with a GTX 260. I've tried both with and without Polar Graphics & 32-bit floating point buffers. Do you have any suggestions as to how to increase performance? I have no problem upgrading my graphics card if it will solve the problem, but don't want to if it's still going to be laggy.... I can email over the file if it helps. Many thanks. Hi Ellis,

A better graphics card always improves the situation, and I think that going from the 200-series in your case, there is room for quite a difference. It's always difficult to say by how much, but I would definitely expect a doubled frame rate if you go to the 500-series. If you want to e-mail me your file I can tell you how it behaves on a fancier card!

Apart from upgrading the graphics card, one of the killers is screen resolution. "Back in the days" when fullscreen meant 1280 x 1024 it wasn't much of an issue, but with widescreen things have gotten worse. Reducing the number of pixels rendered, by changing the desktop resolution or not running Capture in full-screen makes a huge difference.

Thanks Lars... what's your email address - I'll send my project over... as I said, I can upgrade no problem, but it needs to be worthwhile...
