Our local theater just upgraded its light board and lights to a colorsource 40 light board and ETC led (6ch, sorry can't remember model right now) lights.

I have downloaded both Capture 2020 student v2020.0.48 and colorsource v31.1.0.23

I can't seem to connect these programs so I can control the lighting setup in capture with the virtual colorsource light board.   How do I link them so they work together.

Our theater uses ETC LED (6ch/no PTZ) lights which are not in the capture fixtures list.  Which light fixture in capture would be the best substitute for these lights.

    Thanks

The Student Edition does not include the AtlaBase libraries which is the biggest difference compared to our demo/standard editions. The Student Editions contains around 50 fixtures, branded or generics, which are all representative of various fixture types. The sole purpose of the Student Edition is to allow students to make a conceptual design which does not require the entire library or any specifics. Therefore we also managed to release it fully functional and for free. No library requests will be accepted or implemented regarding the Student Edition, whereas library requests for our standard editions are served in a a few working days and free of charge. Thank you for your understanding.

I guess you didn't read the question.  I know that fixture is not included in the student version of capture.  The question was which fixture in capture is the most similar in other words which fixture is a 6ch non-PTZ.   Also, how do I set it up to link the capture software with the virtual colorsource 40 program?

Indeed crucial parts of your question, slept my attention.

Regarding the fixture substitute you are asking, we need to know the exact model of your fixture in order to be able to help.

Regarding the offline console, here is a short connectivity guide

Once you have loaded Coloursource 40 AV simulator (not the simpler Coloursource 40) and Capture to your computer, you should be able to see sACN Universe 1 in the External universe column of Capture's universe tab. If you see this, it means you have established communication between simulator and Capture. Next step is to create and patch your model to Capture. Same patching information should apply to the simulator as well. After you finish patching both, you should be able to visualise your venue in a live view of Capture with control of your simulator.

In case you can not establish communication, check your simulators network settings (set IP address to 127.0.0.1 in order to enable windows loopback adaptor).

Do not forget that both Capture and Coloursource should have the same fixtures patched to the same channels in order to work properly.
