    Hey guys.

I am trying to add a video with Alpha channel (transparent background) to Capture, using a material -> texture media -> media player, that is assigned to a box. Unfortunately I only managed to get static PNG images to work with Alpha channel. Maybe I am doing the video rendering wrong, so could someone please help me and tell me what are the necessary settings for a video with Alpha channel?

At this moment I have tried, but failed, using these settings:
    Format - .mov
    Codec - DNxHR
    Type - DNxHR 444 12-bit

    and

    Format - .mov
    Codec - GoPro CineForm
    Type - RGB 16-bit

Capture seems to not recognize the final videos. It lets me load them in the media player, but doesn't show any preview and if pressed play, nothing happens.

    Hi,

This can work on Mac, so as long as your video file actually contains an alpha channel. Unfortunately it's beyond our knowledge which formats actually do.

You need to actually use a codec that supports alpha, neither variations you've tried have alpha channels although both codecs can. They're also probably not the most likely to be supported by capture.

There's nothing actually in the capture manual about which codecs it supports (i'm going to assume that it should support anything that's installed on your system) so the first i'd try would be a prores 4:4:4:4 , and you'll need to export directly to that from your editor.

@lars, why would this be limited to macOS? windows is more than capable of playing video codecs with alpha channels.
