We have multiple licences of Capture, some are Duet, one is Symphony. I experimented with creating a large show on the sinfony license, then opening the show on the duet licence, make a few changes and see what happens when you try to save the file. The result was a bit unexpected and from the warning message I could not fully understand the implications.
What I changed (in Duet):
- I added measurements to the drawing, to show xy positions of some fixtures
- I moved some fixtures around
The result (opening it back in Symphony):
- I got a warning, saying that not alle changes could be saved
- The measurements were all there in the right positions
- The fixtures that I moved stayed in the old position
- The patch above the second universe (which I had not changed) was removed from the file.
My questions are:
-What would be the best way to warn a user. Maybe better on opening the file?
- Should you be able to do certain things only (like printing and editing reports and plots), but nothing else?
-Should you be forced to do a save as... to avoid actually loosing data?
