Upgrading to Capture 2025
For those of our users already accustomed to Capture 2023 we have gathered some useful information for the transition to Capture 2024.
System requirements
Capture for macOS now requires macOS Ventura (13.5) or higher.
Backward compatibility
Project files saved with older versions than Capture 2019 are no longer supported.
If you have project files saved with or with an older version than Capture 2018, we recommend resaving them Capture 2024.
Any existing Capture 2024 installation will continue functioning after an upgrade, but you will not be able to add additional installations.
3Dconnexion devices
Buttons on the larger 3Dconnexion devices currently do not work on macOS.
We are working hard with 3Dconnexion to resolve this issue, which will require updated macOS drivers from 3Dconnexion.
Cinema 4D support discontinued
Capture no longer opens Cinema 4D (.c4d) files.
For more information about the reasons behind this and our recommendations moving forward, please refer to this forum post.
Plot font change
All plot and report text now uses Google's Noto Sans font. As a result paperwork from older versions of Capture does not look identical and may touching up of their layout.
Behavioural changes
Library gobos, materials and plot symbols are no longer editable. To edit a gobo, material or plot symbol from the library you must first duplicate it.
Reflection planes and smoke boxes no longer affect the visualisation if they are hidden or in a layer that is not included in the current filter.
Plot symbols keys now update automatically.
